Laurie's Poem
I was there,
In front of the pub as a witness
My cigarette was consumed in the darkness.
In the Phillis,
There was this lonely man, his back to me
Drinking his last fantasy.
By his side, a young couple was sat
To taste the night, with their first cognac.
In the middle of this scene, stood the barman
Serving whiskies to nighthawks.
I was still there,
Filled with sadness
Where my only company was my own drunkenness.
